01 - Combine cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, peppercorns, ginger, and water in a small saucepan and bring to a gentle boil over medium heat.
02 - Reduce heat and simmer the mixture for 5 minutes to extract flavor.
03 - Add black tea bags or loose tea in an infuser and simmer for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
04 - Remove from heat and discard tea bags or strain out loose tea and spices.
05 - While tea is hot, stir in honey or maple syrup to taste.
06 - Heat and froth milk using a saucepan or milk frother until steaming.
07 - Pour spiced tea into mugs filling about halfway, then top with hot frothed milk.
08 - Sprinkle with a pinch of ground cinnamon or nutmeg before serving, if desired.
